Shore Street Forest Garden
Deer fencing, grey skies, leafless trees…..the recipe for exquisite landscape business marketing photography. But alas, I will share the images from this recent project! 20 native trees and shrubs, mixed sizes, shapes, berries, seeds, colors, textures, etc. Native bunchgrass seeds sown across 3000 square feet in the backyard. Mulching of the existing apple trees. All this with the intention of transforming a multi-acre lawn into a biodiverse and thriving forested and prairie ecosystem that provides better habitat for critters and humans alike. These trees will grow up to provide shade, habitat, beauty, food, soil nutrition, water cycle restoration, and a few many more benefits. Planting climate-adapted plants, protecting and feeding the soil, and providing the necessary protection from grazing animals to jumpstart the landscape regeneration. Oh, and we don’t have to pull water out of rivers with electric pumps powered by dams on said rivers because these plants can thrive without supplemental irrigation! My goodness folks we can work with nature to create quite extraordinary abundance.
